Indictment alleges bogus tax returns

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A former New Mexico resident is accused of cheating the government out of $98,000 in false tax returns.
Frances Rivas pleaded not guilty to federal charges in an Albuquerque court on Thursday.
Rivas, 42, now lives in Amarillo, Texas. She was released on conditions pending trial.
Federal prosecutors allege that Rivas prepared and filed 25 fraudulent returns on behalf of a number of taxpayers between January 2008 and April 2011.
According to the indictment, the tax returns included false dependents, filing status and fake W-2 wage reports.
