Homicide charged in fatal motorcycle crash

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A motorcyclist died Friday afternoon when a driver Albuquerque police suspect was intoxicated pulled out in front of him.

Police said Amanda Casaus, 24, tried to run from the crash scene at Unser Boulevard NW and Molten Rock Road but was taken into custody.  She is now charged with vehicular homicide.

According to police Casaus was headed east on Molten Rock in a silver four-door Dodge just after 4 p.m. when she drove into the path of Peter Lafond, who was southbound on Unser on his motorcycle.

The car and motorcycle collided in the intersection.  Lafond, 51, died at the scene.
