ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A Rio Grande High School student is recovering from minor injuries after a hit-and-run driver clipped him in front of the school Wednesday afternoon.

The 15-year-old was taken to a hospital for treatment of what were characterized as bumps and bruises.

Witnesses followed the suspect from the school on Arenal Road SW to near Henrie Place and Pear Road SW where Bernalillo County sheriff's deputies pulled him over.

He has been identified as an RGHS student who is expected to be charged. Deputies said they are still investigating why he didn't stop.

No names have been released.
