GRANTS, N.M. (KRQE) - A Grants High School teacher is being investigated for possibly having an inappropriate relationship with a student.

The Cibola Beacon reports that the teacher was placed on administrative leave Thursday when the investigation began.

They also report that the teacher is accused of having an ongoing inappropriate relationship with a female student.

The assistant superintendent has not returned KRQE News 13’s call, but she told the Cibola Beacon within an hour after learning of the allegation, the teacher was placed on administrative leave.

The Grants-Cibola School Board president says it's a personnel matter, so he would not comment.

He said he would pass our message on to the district superintendent.

The assistant superintendent says the teacher will be on leave until the investigation is finished.

The district has not released the teacher's name.
