ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A former death row inmate from Florida spoke Wednesday at the University of New Mexico School of Law.
Juan Melendez was to talk about his 18 years spent on death row for a crime he did not commit.
Melendez was convicted of a 1983 murder but freed in January 2002 after it was discovered police withheld evidence.
That hidden evidence included a taped confession.
Melendez has been an advocate against the death penalty ever since his release.
