ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A former APD cop, convicted of a federal crime , has been ordered to start his prison sentence.

Brad Ahrensfield was an officer in 2009 when he tipped off a friend about a federal drug investigation.

He was convicted of obstruction of justice and in 2011 he was sentenced to six-months in prison.

The sentence has been delayed several times.

Last week Ahrensfield asked for another 45 day delay to care for his girlfriend who is undergoing cancer treatment.

But a federal judge ruled Tuesday that he didn't have jurisdiction to even consider that request.

Ahrensfield must turn himself in by a week from Wednesday.
