FARMINGTON, N.M. (KRQE) - A former New Mexico Sheriff’s Deputy is set to make his first court appearance Thursday after investigators say he was caught on dash-cam beating a man .

Detectives say Former San Juan County Sheriff’s Deputy Dale Frazier was caught on video beating a 23-year-old Farmington man with a flashlight last summer.

Frazier was fired shortly after the incident.

He’s not charged with unlawful assault with a dangerous weapon.

Frazier could face up to ten years in prison if convicted.
