ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Police responding to a report that a man stabbed his live-in girlfriend couldn't find a knife.

Instead they allege Christopher Montoya used his drug needle.

Montoya faced a judge Saturday on multiple charges including aggravated battery.

Officers reported Montoya's girlfriend said he hit and strangled at their South Valley home last weekend.

On Monday he stabbed her several times with the needle he uses to shoot up heroin, she claimed.

Police said there were small puncture marks on her neck and arm.

Montoya also faces child-abuse charges because his three children were at the home during the alleged assaults.
