ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A man accused of trying to settle a traffic dispute with violence made his first court appearance on Saturday.
It was back in June when sheriff's deputies responded to a call of a drive-by shooting n the 700 block of Tyler Road NE.
Witnesses told officers they were standing outside when a car drove by.
They say the driver, later identified as 32-year-old Benjamin Salas, flashed gang signs, got out the car and started firing a gun, according to the criminal complaint.
No one was hurt.
A witness said he believed the shooting was because of a traffic altercation months earlier.
Salas, 32, was arrested Friday and appeared in Metropolitan Court on Saturday facing multiple charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and failure to appear in court on a previous arrest alleging battery.
He's being held in the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention center on a $40,000 cash bond.
