SHAWNEE, Okla. - The daughter of an Oklahoma couple murdered more than two years ago in New Mexico has been murdered too.

Police say Cathy Byus was found dead early Friday morning in her Shawnee, Oklahoma home by officers conducting a welfare check.

Neighbors say they heard the Cathy Byus and her husband Justin Byus fighting just before Cathy was shot. Authorities arrested Justin Byus, in connection with the killing.

Cathy Byus’ parents were Gary and Linda Haas, the couple who was carjacked and killed near Santa Rosa, allegedly by two escaped inmates and an accomplices back in 2010.

The alleged gunman in the carjacking, an inmate who escaped an Arizona prison, John McCluskey, is scheduled for trial this summer. The other inmate and accomplices have already pleaded guilty.

Cathy Byus sued the company that operated the prison and the Arizona Department of Corrections. Her attorney tells The Oklahoman the suits were settled for an undisclosed amount of money.

Justin Byus is being held in the Pottawatomie County jail. Authorities did not know if he had an attorney.
