ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A car hit a curb Saturday night, and when police checked it out they found not just the driver but open beer cans and three children in the car.

Police reported following an erratic driver and watched him hit a curb in the 5000 block of Alameda Boulevard NE.

When officers pulled over Nicholas Ansala, 33, they found several open containers of beer in the car along with three children ages 6 to 10.

Cops say the kids were not wearing seatbelts either.

Ansala failed a chemical test, according to the investigating officer.

On Saturday Ansala was in court charged with three counts of child abuse.  He remains jailed under a $45,000 bond.
