Corrales man dies in Santa Fe bar fight

SANTA FE (KRQE) - A Corrales man is dead after a bar fight in Santa Fe Friday in a case New Mexico State Police are investigating as a homicide.

Santa Fe police responded to the call at Tiny's Restaurant and Lounge near St. Francis Drive and Cerrillos Road at about 7 p.m.

There they found James Rochford, 42, dead with no obvious signs of what killed him.

State Police took over the investigation to avoid any possible conflict because the man may have died right around the time the first city officers arrived at the scene.

Few details of what happened have been released although the Santa Fe New Mexican reported patrons described Rochford as intoxicated and confrontational before the fight.

About two dozen patrons and employees who witnessed the incident were questioned by investigators.

The body has been turned over to the Office of the Medical Investigator for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
