SANTA FE (KRQE) - A two-month investigation in three New Mexico counties has resulted in the bust of what drug agents call a major heroin trafficking operation.

Authorities say the ring was operating in Bernalillo, Santa Fe, and Rio Arriba counties.

Hector Manuel Martinez, Arthur Quintana, Mary Barela, Joshua Montoya, and Clarissa Ortega were all arrested on federal and state charges.

During the investigation officers from multiple agencies working with the Region III Narcotics Task Force seized 8.5 pounds of heroin along with cocaine, meth, prescription pills, two vehicles and a handgun
