HOBBS, N.M. (KRQE) - The city of Hobbs is moving to put law enforcement one step ahead of Spice dealers.
On Thursday the city made 20 more ingredients commonly contained in the synthetic marijuana illegal.
Hobbs and many other cities have had problems with Spice especially among young people. It's a drug known to make users violent.
While authorities have raided several businesses selling Spice, in one case they had to return the drugs because they didn't contain the substances outlined as illegal under the law.
"We're hoping to stay as current as we can on what formulas are being utilized so we can continue to make them illegal," Hobbs Police Chief Chris McCall said. "We realize that our ordinance is going to have to be a living document, and were going to have to constantly update it."
Investigators say the dealers are always changing the ingredients.
