ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A man accused of bringing a drug truck on a school campus is let off the hook today for what police didn't do that night.

Cameron Sanchez, 18, faced a judge Sunday on drug distribution charges.

A criminal complaint says Sanchez was at Rio Grande high on Friday, watching a basketball game with several students.

Police say those students had been drinking.

Officers then tracked down Sanchez truck but not only found the booze, marijuana, drug scales and even rolling papers.

Sunday his attorney asked for a dismissal because he says police didn't do their job.

“At this point we would ask the courts to dismiss the matter,” his attorney said. “The burden is on the state or the police in this case to comply with the four corners and you can see they simply didn't do that your honor.”

Sanchez's attorney told the judge the officers did not get a search warrant and Sanchez never gave them permission to look inside his truck.

The judge dismissed the charges.
