DURANGO, Colo. (AP) - Authorities say the remains of a La Plata County woman who went missing more than a year ago have been identified in New Mexico.
Detective Burke Baldwin with the Durango Police Department says the remains of Alesha Daniel, who would have been 38 years old, were identified Tuesday.
Daniel is believed to have gone missing in late July or early August 2010, and her remains were found in an undisclosed location south of Albuquerque in October 2010.
New Mexico authorities are investigating the cause of death, and The Durango Herald reports the Valencia County Sheriff's office did not return a phone call Friday seeking comment.
