SANTA FE (KRQE) - Further tests will have to be done to figure out how a newborn found in a vacant field southeast of Santa Fe died.

The baby was found in Eldorado on July 19 by a man walking his dogs.

Investigators found the baby's 21-year-old mother who claims the baby was stillborn.

Santa Fe County sheriff's investigators say so far the evidence has not disproved her story.

They say the autopsy revealed the baby was about 35 weeks and that there were no obvious signs of trauma.

Further testing is being conducted to see if a cause of death can be determined.
