ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The man claiming to be a cop after breaking into a woman's home could not fake it in court Saturday.

Michael Johnson, 35, faced a judge on breaking and entering charges.

Bernalillo County sheriff's deputies say he broke into an east mountain home about 2:30 Friday morning, shined a flash light in the face of the woman who lives there and said he was a police officer.

He asked her for some gas money, but when he did not get it he took off.

Deputies found Johnson with a backpack and a flashlight.

He said he went into the house looking for help because his car, which turned out to be stolen, broke down.

The judge Saturday increased Johnson’s bond to $7,500 since he is facing criminal charges in other cases.

"You have a case pending in front of me of shoplifting and then another case in front of me of shoplifting…you have a case pending in division 14,” Judge Daniel Ramczyk said.

Johnson is facing burglary and auto theft charges for the east mountain case.
