ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - An arena football player was carrying a lot more than just his gear while driving through New Mexico.
State police pulled over William Cochran on I-40 for speeding Saturday.
The officer also smelled a strong odor of marijuana.
After Cochran and his passenger, Trewayne Kirkland, an arena football player for the Edmonton Eskimos in Canada, both gave conflicting stories and both appeared to be extremely nervous.
The officer obtained a search warrant and used his K-9 to search their car.
The dog found more than six pounds of pot in the car.
Sunday both were in court charged with having a controlled substance and intent to distribute.
