ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Detectives are going into their 12th hour of investigating a violent scene in northeast Albuquerque that left one person dead and two people with gunshot wounds.
The investigation covers quite an area and police still do not know if they are looking for one gunman or possibly more.
Police were initially called out to a home in the 7700 block of McKnight near Indian School and Pennsylvania around 10 o’clock Tuesday night.
Homeowners say a man showed up on their doorstep with a gunshot wound to the arm claiming he was a victim of a kidnapping.
From there the blood trail led detectives to a home on Haines Street, directly south of the other home. In that home, they found one man dead in the kitchen.
Then following another blood trail, officers found another person shot in the neck and buttocks, this time in a parking lot at a nearby school.
They said he was there with a woman who police have been interviewing for hours.
One of the gunshot victims told police they had been held in a gold four-door car.
Investigators are still trying to piece together all the scenes.
“Really we're trying to just nail down exactly what the circumstances are that caused this violent crime scene to occur on a Tuesday evening in northeast Albuquerque…we really don't know,” Officer Robert Gibbs said.
Both of the shooting victims were taken to UNM Hospital and are said to be stable, but police have not been able to interview either of them.
Police think they know who the deceased victim is, but they won't have that confirmed until the office of the medical investigator makes that determination.
