1 dead, 1 arrested after Hobbs shooting

HOBBS, N.M. (KRQE) - A fatal shooting in Hobbs has left one man dead and another in custody.

Hobbs police responded to a residence Sunday morning on the 2800 block of North Dal Paso after reports a man had been shot.

That's where they found Antonio Ortiz, 37, Junior suffering from a gun shot wound.

He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police detained 48-year-old Johnny Hall at the scene.

Hall is now charged with attempted robbery and first degree murder.
