SANTA FE (KRQE) - The number of people overcharged by PNM in Santa Fe has reached a new high with several thousand customers now said to be affected.
This comes nearly a month after New Mexico's Public Regulation Commission started investigating the electric utility.
Originally the company said several hundred customers on Santa Fe's west side were overcharged between October and May because of problems with a meter reader.
Then they raised it to 3,200
Now they say it's more than 5,000.
The company said it missed one of the meter reader's routes.
Affected customers are already getting credits on their bills ranging from $1 to $78.
