ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Albuquerque's Eclipse Aerospace hopes to sell some of its small jets to the U.S. Air Force.

Eclipse says the deal could save the air force more than $1 billion over the next decade.

The air force is looking for a new basic level jet trainer to replace some of its older, fuel hungry models.

Eclipse CEO Mason Holland says he met with air force leaders and pitched the Albuquerque-built jet as a solution.

Holland said the eclipse is 70 percent more fuel efficient than the present air force trainer and requires 70 percent less maintenance.
