ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The city of Albuquerque says it's moving forward with a big economic development plan that's expected to bring jobs to the area.

Last week KRQE News 13 reported from Gainesville, Fla. , on a plan there that takes inventions from inside university labs to the marketplace.

The 40-acre project is located in downtown Gainesville and caters to start-up businesses by providing a variety of services from accounting and legal to access to venture capitalists.

Mayor Richard J. Berry and University of New Mexico President Robert Frank went to Florida last month and came back saying a similar plan can work here.

This week the mayor said he'll ask voters in the October municipal election to approve $2 million in bond borrowing for the project.

It's all part of a $110 million bond package that goes to repair things like parks and senior centers.
