ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Los Ranchos Elementary School celebrated Veterans Day Monday and marked the beginning of several events to celebrate the school's 100th anniversary that will occur in 2014.
Monday’s events were started by hoisting a flag that has flown over the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.
Students then recited the pledge of allegiance and veterans spoke to students about their service to our country.
”Anytime that they can get out and talk with kids about our history and the need be proactive is an opportunity for our kids and you can see it in the veterans faces,” the principal of Los Ranchos Elementary School, Renee Gallegos, said.
Monday’s events helped to teach citizenship and what it means to serve our country.
