National Guard sends soldiers to Egypt

SPRINGER, N.M. (AP) - The New Mexico National Guard is holding a parade and ceremony in Springer on Thursday to bid farewell to 47 soldiers who are being deployed to Egypt.

The 615th Combat Support Battalion headquartered in Springer is sending 47 soldiers to Sinai as part of the Multi-Force Observer Mission. The deployment will last nine months.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Main Street in Springer, with a Yellow Ribbon Ceremony following at the Springer Armory.

Once in the Sinai, the 615th will reflag as the 1st U.S. Army Support Battalion. Their mission is to provide logistical support to all U.S. soldiers serving the mission in Egypt.
