ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - As hundreds are getting ready to head out the door for Balloon Fiesta, Albuquerque Police want to remind drivers to slow down near Balloon Fiesta Park.  On Monday morning, traffic was light, but traffic officers were still patrolling the streets around the park.

This comes after Albuquerque Police Sergeant Todd Mock was struck on Saturday while directing traffic .  The details of the crash have not been released yet but at last word, detectives say it's still under investigation.

Sgt. Mock had to be transported to the hospital via a medivac helicopter because traffic was too congested to allow an ambulance through.

There have been incidents in past years where police service aids and other pedestrians have been injured in traffic crashes.
