ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - It was an emotional meeting at the Sunport Wednesday night that was 26 years in the making.
David Brasington met his son Timothy for the first time.
Brasington left Albuquerque years ago for Michigan and never knew he had a son.
That's until last summer, when Timothy, who lives in Belen, looked him up on the internet and contacted him.
The two have been talking ever since:
“It just felt like a void there,” Timothy Johnston said. “I didn't even know my ethnicity to be honest. That's good to know my history and my roots and where i come from. It honestly makes me feel a lot more complete.”
The two say they wanted to meet because David has pulmonary fibrosis and doesn't know how long he has to live because he needs a lung transplant.
David and Timothy plan on spending the next few days getting to know each other.
