INDIANAPOLIS - Along with everything else I keep up on, following numerous cupcake blogs and trends is a part of helping me spread the love of cupcakes to you all. Cupcakes blogs are quite popular these days. Similar to tiny treat itself, these blogs spread happiness, more in the form of ideas and recipes, in small, bite-sized doses.

Three sweet treats to read:

Legalize Frostitution:
The official blog of Cupcake Royale

A simple blog, Cupcake Royale posts once a month on average. The posts are short, yet rich with flavor, highlighting recent additions to their bakeries cupcake menu.

What began as a neighborhood cupcake bakery in 2003 has grown to spreading its tastiness across the Internet, focusing on old-fashioned style cupcakes and flavors like huckleberries, maple and even whiskey.

It is a fun read that could add ideas to your cupcake repertoire, while giving some insight on having a cupcakes storefront.

Hello, Cupcake!
The Cupcaker's Place To Blog

I won’t say much for the design of this blog, but the content is king for sure. From the author’s of “Hello, Cupcake” and “What’s Up, Cupcake?” Karen Tack and Alan Richardson, this blog documents their experiments, cupcake events and new discoveries.

It’s loaded with tips and tricks as well as links to recipes, which is an important element o having a successful cooking blog. Like I said – the design will not win any awards, but what’s actually in the blog is fantastic.

Cupcakes Take The Cake

This great site updated pretty much constantly is chock full of awesome. “Everything you ever wanted to know about cupcakes from true cupcake fans,” by Rachel Kramer Bussel, Nichelle Stephens and Stacie Joy means exactly that. They source cupcakes from across the web, personal experiences and blog for others. If you want constant cupcakeness in your life, this is the blog for you.

They’ve increased followers exponentially with their Twittering new treats several times a day, using social media to promote cupcake goodness everywhere. I’ll admit, I almost always click to see what amazing morsel they have posted each time I spy a tweet.

Follow them on Twitter at @cupcakeblog.

Pro-tip:
Recently I’ve been getting questions from readers for tips and tricks and so forth. This week’s pro-tip hopefully answers bmichaels re: Tumblr’s question.

“Hello, I read your article on cappuccino cupcakes and am wondering if you would mind sending/posting the recipe? I have tried to bake cappuccino cupcakes in the past with little luck so any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!”

There are several ways you can bake with espresso – brewed, ground and beans. I’ve found ground and brewed are more likely to get you a richer espresso taste. Also, The Cupcake Project, which I featured last month, has this great post about cooking with coffee/espresso. Check it out!

She has almost 20 years of professional cooking under her apron strings, feeding thousands of friends, family and other folks while working in restaurants and bakeries in Oxford, Miss. She baked 300 apple pies for the “Oprah Winfrey Show” and appeared on “The Best Of...” in the same year. Along with producing dynamic entertainment content for LIN Media, she is a mother, musician and social media fanatic.
