ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Chicken wing fans in Albuquerque can relax, as it looks right now, there will not be a chicken wing shortage for Super Bowl Sunday.
There was an initial scare across the country that since fewer birds were produced in 2012, there would be a possible shortage.
KRQE News 13 spoke with some chicken wing specialty restaurants in Albuquerque and they said they have received word from their distributors that they will have enough for the high demand expected this weekend.
David Castro, general manager at two WingStop locations in Albuquerque said he anticipates making 500 wings every 15 minutes on Super Bowl Sunday.
The National Chicken Council estimates that Americans will consume 1.23 billion chicken wings this weekend alone.
