Teens, these texting tips can help you and others avoid potential danger while driving:

  • Be smart - just don't text & drive; there is no text message worth distracting you while you're driving.
  • Be in control - it's your phone so you decide when to send and read texts. Why not consider turning off your phone, putting it on vibrate/silent or even storing it in the glove box or your bag before hitting the road.
  • Be caring - don't send a text message to a friend who is driving to meet you, or to anyone else you know that is likely to behind the wheel.
  • Be a BFF - friends don't let friends text & drive.

Adults, its not just teens who shouldn't text and drive, remember these simple tips to be safe:

  • Be a resource - share information and your concerns with your teens about the risks of texting while driving.
  • Be an example - don’t send the wrong message by texting while you drive; your teen will follow your example.
  • Be caring - don't send a text when you know your teen is driving, wait for them to call or text you when they have arrived at their destination.
  • Be aware - some cell phone plans allow you easy ways to manage your teens cell phone and texting activity.
