Nominate a Red Cross real hero

ALBUQUERQUE (KASA) - The American Red Cross of New Mexico seeks nominations for heroes from around the state of New Mexico for its second Red Cross Real Heroes Award Breakfast on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at the Sheraton Albuquerque Uptown.

"We all know or have heard of someone from our community who have performed extraordinary acts to assist, and in some cases save the life of a co-worker, neighbor, loved one or animal," said Maureen Simmons, Director of Development. "This event celebrates and honors these special people."

The event celebrates people who have performed extraordinary actions through their courage, kindness, and unselfishness. Ten New Mexico residents will be recognized for their heroic acts at the second annual breakfast.

Each Hero will be selected through a nomination process in the categories of Good Samaritan - Adult, Good Samaritan - Youth, Emergency Medical Assistance, Fire Safety, Law Enforcement, Disaster, Military, Animal Rescue and Cerro Grande Hero.

  • Heroic acts must have taken place between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2009.
  • Nominations are also considered for persons who have served their community over a long period of time.
  • The event celebrates those among us who perform extraordinary actions each day through their courage, kindness, and unselfishness.
